It took me a very long time to finish my last two projects. I had another Furutsu and a Spring Folder in my books and struggled to finish them.
I wrote about how I was stuck in the past and it keeps happening from time to time as the orders are still piled up in my books and I sincerely apologize to all who asked for a knife. I slowly keep progressing and am happy to have finished two more projects.
It would be too easy to say it is all due to my very time-consuming day job, but it is surely also due to a lack of creative energy and time to focus. I need a certain space and peace to sit down and hand-sand a blade for hours and go for perfection – I cannot (and do not want to) do this in a hurry and under time pressure. In the end, this is a hobby and is meant to be fun. So the real struggle is finding time for myself with enough space to build up that creative energy.
In the end the knives are finished and found their way to the respective new owners. All are happy with the results and that is my most valued salary.
